Making Choices that Matter

When making choices, you have the power to choose your destination!

 

The truth about making choices – much of the power is in your hands.

But, I don’t think a lot of people really believe this.  I hear people complaining all the time about things…

  • family problems
  • problems with friends
  • poor health or being out of shape
  • job issues
  • lack of time
  • lack of money
  • relationship problems

…and the list goes on and on and on…

I hear it from clients.  I hear it online on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram from people I know and from people I don’t know.

Sad FACT:  We all have problems!

Happy FACT:  We all have the power to choose. That’s right life is about making choices!

Look at the photo of my painting above.  Isn’t this the view that we all have at times in our lives?  We all face that curve in the road, that bend in our lives when we can’t see, when we don’t know what’s up ahead.

Back to the point…

We all face uncertainty at times, but we can control a lot about what happens around that bend.

How?

By making choices (the right ones) today.  Here’s a tidbit of wisdom for you to Tweet…

In case that’s not clear enough for you, let me be more explicit.  What you do in the here and now directly impacts your future.  Making choices (the right ones or the wrong ones, for that matter) today WILL make a difference tomorrow.  To me, this is so obvious, but it’s a point that many of us easily miss if we’re not reminded.  It sounds simple, almost stupid, but it’s not.  It’s important, and it’s something that we need to tell ourselves over and over again. Is it your stumbling block?

Got it?  Good!

So, how does knowing the above truth about choices dictating reality help when facing the unknown (the future)?  Well, let me just bullet out a few examples for you.

  1. Eat well today, feel better tomorrow.  (When tomorrow gets here, you’ll feel good and be able to handle whatever comes your way better.)
  2. Get some exercise today. (Your mind and body will function better tomorrow when it gets here.)
  3. Clean up your mess. (Tomorrow when someone unexpectedly stops by, you won’t be embarrassed by the sh**hole you’re living in.)
  4. Resolve an issue today with your spouse that you’ve been avoiding.  (You’ll sleep better tonight and feel better tomorrow.)
  5. Do something nice for somebody in need. (Tomorrow that person may just come to your rescue when you need help.  Plus, you’ll feel better for being a nice person.)

I could go on an on with examples of things we can do today to improve our tomorrows.  Again, the point is to CHOOSE and CHOOSE wisely…TODAY, so that tomorrow, whether known or unknown, will be a better day all “Around the Bend.”

Now put that in your pipe and smoke it!
